Calcodds is an automated system which calculates the true mathematical odds for any named horse to place. Our calculations are purely mathematical and actual race form and other factors are not taken into account. The system's underlying assumption is that Betfair's win odds are correct, or as near to correct as you can get under free market conditions. Calcodds automatically indicates what the percentage error, or discrepancy, is on each horse in every race (see Sample).

Calcodds objective is to give clear indications as to what is wrongly priced. We are not running a tipping service - we just inform you where the odds are out-of-line so that you can profit from them.

What do Calcodds offer?

Calcodds uses live Betfair API odds feeds to calculate second by second what the true mathematical odds should be on any given horse to place. Clients can see what the real odds should be and also see what is currently available on Betfair. Clients should make their own decisions whether or not to back or lay the selections. When an odds on offer reaches or trades over 10% out of line we indicate this with either a blue (back) sign, or a pink (lay) sign. Of course, clients can pick and choose the bets or boundaries that triggers them into betting action. We are only seeking 'value' bets and long term this is the only way to win, unless, of course, you are privileged to receive inside information.

Our analysis for each race will usually starts 8 minutes before the scheduled off-time, unless stated otherwise. Our live odds feeds will show both Betfair current win and place prices, together with our mathematically calculated true place odds. We will also indicate how much over, or under-priced each selection is against the true odds. Please note that we calculate odds discrepancies 'stake included'. e.g. a 1.40 odds is 10% over-priced at 1.54 and not 1.44. This allows for the 'Harville Formula' effect where the odds on short-priced favourites are known to be over-estimated, and therefore, less likely to place if they fail to win the race.  

If the odds differences are great enough (we suggest 10% over/under) clients can back the over-priced selections to win, or lay under-priced selections in the hope of making a profit. Clients can, of course, also 'trade' on wrongly priced selections in the hope that the markets will react and rectify themselves, or at least move in the right direction.

Our original intention was to save all race data on our site for clients to study and analyse the findings at their leisure. However, Betfair have recently introduced a new Historical Data Contract and, at present, it is uneconomic for us to provided this service.
